About
I founded Jane Marketing in 2012 after a 17-year stint as the president of a marketing and advertising firm in the Baltimore/Washington region. There I managed all aspects of the agency with particular focus in brand strategy, planning, and account management. Think of me as an orchestra leader – waving a baton to engage teams of research, PR, media, and creative talent work towards the desired outcome as needed.
Throughout my career I never really sought to specialize in any one category of business. To be honest, it’s always been the variety that excites me – the ability to learn about so many areas of business and so many aspects of life, whether business-to-consumer or business-to-business. I’ve worked on national retail, hotel and travel, entertainment, manufacturing, healthcare, economic development, technology, and more. However, the areas where I’ve had the most include higher education and non-profit.
Here’s a sampling of those clients.
- Marriott
- University of Maryland
- Total Wine & More
- Dow Wire & Cable
- American University Washington College of Law
- George Washington University School of Business
- International Spy Museum
- Puerto Rico Convention Bureau
- Cable Bahamas
- The Washington Post
- Solidia Technologies
- World Future Society
- Family & Nursing Care
Non-Profits:
- Administration on Disabilities (part of HHS)
- NY Psychotherapy Counseling Center
- DC College Access Program
- Goodwill Industries of Greater Washington
- Christiana Care Health System
- Samaritan Inns
- Northern Virginia Family Services
- Brain Injury Services
I get you.
I also have corporate side experience, having worked at Hechinger Corporation, a home improvement retail company, in the advertising and marketing departments overseeing the in-house advertising division and managing the external creative resources. That experience gave me a good understanding of issues clients face when making marketing and advertising decisions and building consensus among internal teams.
I can bring the full force.
I have no full-time employees. I do have a vast network of talented colleagues, whom I trust and respect to be as dedicated as I am to the assignment and who are a pleasure to work with (no egos, please). I love this approach, because I get to call in people who have the exact right experience for a particular assignment and because it’s a more cost-efficient model that benefits my clients. It’s a model without a lot of overhead and bureaucracy. My colleagues cover research, media relations and strategic communications, media planning and buying (digital and traditional), web design and programming, SEO/SEM, social media and creative development (copywriting, art direction and design).
I come with a side of mindfulness.
As a yoga teacher / trainer, I try to bring balance and presence to my work in marketing and help you and your team find the same. I’m also a Certified Brain Longevity® Specialist through the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation and the founder of Sarasvate (Sar-as-VAH-te´), a company I started in honor of my mom, Sarah. Our mission is to help minimize the risk of diseases like Alzheimer’s and help people of all ages live with greater clarity.
I reiterate my appreciation for the role you played in stepping in to facilitate the meeting. A great pairing of your marketing and yoga hats.
